Walton Holymoorside Primary

Dear Parents and Carers,

On behalf of myself and all the staff may I offer you a warm welcome to Walton Holymoorside Primary and Nursery School. Our school mission statement is ‘Working, Helping, Progressing and Smiling’ ; this underpins everything we do to ensure children get the very best out of their time with us.

Walton Holymoorside is a larger than average primary school, situated on the outskirts of Chesterfield within the village of Holymoorside. We have approximately 350 children on roll and a 52 place nursery on site. The school was opened on its current site in June 2002, moving from the old Victorian building which was located further into the village, on New Road.

The school now offers eleven classrooms, an infant library, a junior library/learning hub and a large hall, which is also used as the dining area. Outside the grounds are spacious and attractive comprising: playgrounds, playing fields, a pond and a wildlife area. In the playground, a climbing wall and trim trail encourage active playtimes and new for 2019 is our fantastic ‘forest school’, situated on site.

The nursery is purpose built, adjoins the main school and has an excellent outdoor area.

Our Reception and Key Stage 1 classes also have covered outdoor learning space which we continually develop and enhance.

The last Ofsted inspection was in June 2017, when we retained our grading of ‘good’ from our previous Ofsted inspection in May 2014. The school converted to academy status in June 2019 and is now part of The Learners’ Trust. The school is very well supported by a skilled and caring Local Board of School Champions, who support and challenge every aspect of school life.

At Walton Holymoorside we aim to work in partnership with parents to achieve the best outcomes for every child and ensure that children are exceptionally well-prepared for the next stage of their education and life beyond school.

Yours sincerely

Mrs J Palmer-Coole  BA Hons, PGCE, NPQH
Headteacher
